The main changes are: 1. Closed Captions retained in the backup DVD. 2. Fixed bug in still-pictures encoding. 3. Fixed selection of default playback streams in re-author mode. 4. Added warning if you try to re-author menus. --dvdshrink Version 3.1.5 - 8 Feb 2004 --------------------------- Added warning in case of re-authoring menus: reminder that they will be converted into video clips, not menus. Fixed closed captions: no longer stripped from output files. Fixed navigation command for "no subpicture" in re-author. Also now use separate commands for default audio and subpicture as easier for IFOedit users. Changed default streams GUI in re-author mode. Fixed various problems in still-picture encoder: - PTS/DTS set correctly - timestamp of sequence end code recorded in NV_PCK - 3:2 pulldown disabled Fixed checking of DVD files when opened in "open files" mode. Fixed ISO-639 code for Hebrew to "iw". Automatically stop video preview when doing quick analysis in re-author mode. Improved support for mousewheel in DVD browser view. Backup proceeds without warning if total compilation size is within 128KB of the target size. This helps prevent warnings if automatic compression is slightly inaccurate (due to floating point rounding error). Added menu option to turn on/off "combined shared titles" in full-disc mode. Changes to application startup code, attempt to fix crash on some windows 2000 systems. Added Carlitus/Mandraker toolbar buttons. Changed compiler switches to optimize for Pentium systems. Changed all spellings of "disk" to "disc" (except in the case of "hard disk"). Fixed small bug in main window where selected menus could fail to deselect. mirror at my site and I'm sure afterdawn, dvshrink.org, etc. will have it up anytime too. Hi Dvdshrink, everyone else. I've been using dvdshrink for a long time and never had any problem whatsoever on it. I always used nero manually to burn my dvds using the dvd_video profile. Since version 3.1.5, I decided to try the "burn with nero" internal feature (I have a Pioneer 106D dvd-writer). I selected 1x write speed for maximum compatibility. The option "Book type DVD-ROM" was checked and disabled (so I couldn't change it). And the option "Burn at least 30mm (DVD+R/RW high compatibility mode)" was checked and I left it that way. The question is, as I was writing in a DVD-R (not dvd+r), should I use this second option ? What exactly does it do ? Where in nero is this option avaible ? The point is, I know this was probably the hell of a coincidence, but after I tried the 1st dvd burning internally by dvdshrink in my stand-alone player (a Pioneer DVD-525), it played fine, no problem. After that, no disc was recognized by my player (not even original ones), it says "No disc" and doesn't recognize anything (original dvds, audio cds, nothing). So what do you guys say ? Is there a chance of this wasn't a coincidence ? Should I stop burning my dvds internally by dvdshrink ? Or am I just being paranoid ? :) Btw, congratualations for dvdshrink, a wonderful piece of software :) Duwde @geffroman Thanks for the report. There have been a few reports about this kind of thing - looping menus etc - which I am investigating now. Interesting that it worked with 3.1.4. I may send you a PM to ask for help debugging this. @duwde Do you mean that your standalone is, like, broken now? Or does it work again after you reset? The book-type option is only enabled for those burners which support setting the book-type. The "burn at least 30mm" option ensures that at least 1GB is written to the target disc, which can help some players to recognise the burned media. Since your typical compilation size is 4464MB, this is not usually an issue, and checking the option will make no difference in this case. If you make really small DVDs (as I often do for testing) then I recommend checking this option. I think it unlikely that burning with Nero from inside DVD Shrink would break anything, but I can't really confirm or deny anything about this, as I know very little about what Nero does. DVD Shrink just calls the Nero library functions: what then happens is as much a mystery to DVD Shrink as it is to everyone else.
